A Rail Arts District Mural
Text
The Art:
“The Garden” is a 130 ft. by 30 ft. mural of red lettuces in The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) at Copia vegetable garden. Hueman says, “The red lettuce, in particular, reminded me of flowers and are featured most prominently in the piece. The entire color palette is pulled from the greens in the garden, the red lettuce, the stones on the building, and the blue Napa sky.”
The Artist:
Allison Tinati is an Oakland-based artist who paints under the moniker “Hueman”. She received her degree in Design and Media Arts from University California, Los Angeles. She often draws on the human condition to create colorful mash-ups of the abstract and figurative; the beautiful and grotesque.
